CP Group has diversified into timber production in Papua New Guinea. The group through a joint venture owns an industrial tree plantation (ITP) spanning over 28,000 hectares in this Oceanic country. Timber is derived from a sustainable source. CP Group believes in practicing responsible forestry to ensure future sustainability.
Sustainable forestry and tree management are key to ensuring a constant and continual supply of quality timber. For every tree that is felled, a new sapling is planted in its place to ensure a new generation of trees and reforestation in 20 years’ time.
The end products of sawn timber, veneer and plywood from this tree plantation are supplied to the South East Asia market as well as the burgeoning markets of Asia and the Middle East. Among the hundred over varieties of wood, rosewood remains the coveted wood for the furniture industry worldwide.
